MakeMake Digital Library is a premium digital reading platform designed for children ages 3 to 15. We provide schools and public libraries in the United States and Latin America with annual subscriptions to a curated collection of authentic Spanish-language e-books.
Here is how the platform works for institutions:
Oh, and by the way, MakeMake, our little reading universe, is named after a dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, near Pluto. You can learn more about the planet here.
It is pronounced (MAH-kay-MAH-kay), not to be confused with "make" (/meɪk/).
MakeMake offers a diverse collection of high-quality fiction and non-fiction curated for readers aged 3 to 15. The collection focuses heavily on visual and engaging storytelling, featuring:
The collection is sourced from a great variety of print publishers from Latin America, and a few from Spain and the USA. About 95% of our collection is originally written in Spanish by authors born in Latin America, Spain, and the USA.
Every digital title was first vetted and published in print form by small to mid-size publishers from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela, and Peru. A few publishers from Spain and the USA have also contributed their books to MakeMake, especially those written by Latin American authors.
Interactive books are exclusive to MakeMake. This growing collection of over 140 titles features both original creations and collaborations with top publishers, including international award winners like Bologna Book Fair laureates "In my dreams" by Stephane Kiehl and "Doble Doble" by Menena Cottin.
Rather than standard digital pages, each interactive book provides a unique learning experience:
We all love print books and they are essential in any school and public library. Digital books do not threaten print books and will not make print books disappear. Instead, implementing MakeMake alongside your print collection solves major logistical and financial challenges:
MakeMake is available to institutions such as schools and public libraries, which acquire a subscription and make it available to their registered users or students at no cost. Pricing depends on the number of books chosen, starting from 200 books, and the size of the community served.
To receive a tailored pricing plan for your institution, please request more information or contact our sales team at [email protected].
While both public libraries and school libraries require high-availability of carefully selected books, MakeMake addresses their necessities differently.
Look for your school or library in this list and use the credentials provided by your institution to access digital resources.
If you see your local public library on our list but do not have a card yet, visit their website or physical branch to sign up for one. A library card is free and gives you immediate access to MakeMake and your city's digital and print resources.
MakeMake has an intense focus on reading because reading is our passion. Our support for literacy starts with a careful selection of books and a thoughtful arrangement of those books on our platform, which we designed specifically for the purpose of reading books.
